Cosmologic philosophy: Egnor on Big Bang, etc. (Introduction)

dhw: […] you wrote: “there is no before before the BB. Time didn’t exist. This was proven by Guth, Borde and Valenkin by mathematics years ago, presented by my books and here.

dhw: You have denied that there is no before, because you believe that God existed before, and you have repeated over and over again that it is possible that God created earlier BBs. Neither of us is saying that they existed. We are both saying it is possible that they existed. And so we are both saying it is possible that time existed before our BB – the exact opposite of the bolded quote. You are quite right: we are arguing about nothing, because you agree with me that Guth has NOT proven that there was no before and no time before our BB. That should be the end of this discussion.

DAVID: If you will state that previous time only existed in previous BB's, not in between BB's, I'm happy. And our time started with our BB, Guth's point.

Of course OUR time started with OUR BB, but that is not Guth’s point in the bolded quote. Why do you insist on ignoring what you have written: according to you, he proved that there was no time before our BB, because there was nothing before our BB. You agree that previous time may have existed in previous BBs. You therefore disagree with Guth. End of the argument. Totally irrelevant to that argument is your illogical claim that, although you agree with my definition of time as a sequence of before-during-after, there is no sequence of before-during-after each individual BB.
