If we think about it and if we believe in cause and effect then consciousness is simply a (limited) window on the brain's inner workings.-I accept cause and effect, and you are correct, we have a very limited view of how the brain supplies us with a consciousness, but you avoid the question, are you in control of your consciousness and its ideas and thoughts? I'm sure I am.
