Jesus is referred to in some Roman historical documents, -The only roughly contemporaneous mention of Jesus is by Josephus, who was born about the time Jesus was crucified. The entry in Josephus' history is though by many to be a forgery. The first gospel was written about 40-60 years after Jesus' death.
