If you give an asteroid event as a "simple case" of NS, you are quite clearly conflating the two. That is why I asked you for a definition of NS, and you have responded with "Evolution by natural selection", which is not a definition. You then explain how you think evolution proceeds, which is fine, and I agree almost totally with your concluding summary:
