Sometimes I write without exposing the background issue, in this case, the mutation rate matched against the time taken for evolutionary change. Many times there is no mathematical fit, - Appropriatly, there is a recent article on human mutation rate. but please carefully note that this is general rates for whole human DNA, not specific mutations in functional genes, i.e., 100-200 per 3.3 billion base pairs. -
