For the local folk, the issues you list are having no effect. They don't follow current events as you do. And they accept spoon-fed religion without question. Our country is filled with pockets of these folks. Not so much in Europe. The Cahtolic church is scandal-ridden,but in South America it doesn't matter. They have a Pope! The Hasidic Jews are another example. Yours is a different vantage point.
