"Supposed to be" implies purpose. It also implies something to suppose that purpose. Maybe that's why no one wants to answer the question. If they answer it honestly, there is only one answer that can be arrived at.

What is the purpose of living? How about, 'to reduce needless suffering. It seems to me to be a worthy purpose.
