When I first started to study Game Design, I caught a lot of flak about it from various folks who saw it as a useless waste of time. This is an article from an industry website that discusses one of the more fundamental aspects of game design, and why I see it as such an intriguing field to be part of right now.

If we can get a more concrete understanding of the learning behaviors people exhibit while having fun it could have huge implications for education, physical rehabilitation, and possibly even treating psychological disorders and brain trauma.

And I thought you were a geology guy!

Inside of Computer Science it was heavily derided until probably about the last 10 years or so, when world consumers practically *vomit* money into the industry.

Game creation teaches:

1. Memory management
2. Artificial Intelligence
3. Simulation of environments
4. High-Performance Computing
5. User-Interface Design

The list goes on, but as far as my own field, education in a 4yr that offers this curriculum teaches nearly everything you might need to know to be an effective software developer.

\"It is, brahmin, because of attachment to views, adherence to views, fixation on views, addiction to views, obsession with views, holding firmly to views that ascetics fight with ascetics.\"
