Actually, and I wish I could remember the name of the layer of stone out West, there is a type of rock that naturally decays into arches, as in Arches National Park. I think it is a type of sandstone. I remember seeing partial arches in the cliffs in two dimensions. Statistically they are very likely to form as the Park has about 2,000.
