The Pope on Intolerant Agnosticism (Agnosticism)
dhw: "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, that for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" (Matthew xix, 24)-My background in a Free Will Baptist College, Bates, exposed me to DD's with good theologic training. The sentence in Matthew has a completely different meaning if one letter is changed in the word 'camel'. It becomes thread! Our professor thought 'camel' is a mistake! Without a printing press and and spell check, who knows what was copied and improperly transmitted. The Hebrew scribes for the Dead Sea scroll of Isaiah were 99.8% accurate judging by current copies, or were folks subsequest to the Essenes that accurate? We don't know the answer, which is why there are still scholars of the OT researching and arguing with each other. Tony, take note.
