Evolution (Evolution)

Here is another example of the intricate biochemistry that runs our body and its probable evolution. Remember that living nerve cells conduct electrical impulses along 'axons' (living wires) almost as fast as along copper wire. Sodium and potassium 'fluxes' back and forth along the axon sequentially push electronic impulses down our 'wires'. Part of this (sodium) suddenly appeared in the Cambrian Explosion, clearly mentioned in this article: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/01/090121122834.htm - Actually the sodium/potassium balance across all cell membranes is carefully controlled, but most carefully in the kidney filtering system, as one might imagine.
