A Little Xmas Ode (General)

Dear atheists and agnostics,
Dear Christians, Muslims, Jews,
Dear Buddhists and panentheists,
(Or whatever path you choose),

It really doesn’t matter
What you do or don’t believe.
Eventually each one of us
This planet Earth must leave.

What matters while you’re on it
Is your daily peace of mind,
And what matters when you leave it
Is the love that’s left behind.

If those who shared your presence
Then look back on you and smile
With pleasure and with gratitude,
Your life has been worthwhile.

Let those with faith in Jesus
By all means kneel and pray,
But let the Christmas message be
To celebrate each day.

Merry Christmas, folks!

\"Why is it, Master, that ascetics fight with ascetics?\"

\"It is, brahmin, because of attachment to views, adherence to views, fixation on views, addiction to views, obsession with views, holding firmly to views that ascetics fight with ascetics.\"

Just wanted to take a few minutes to wish my friends here happy holidays. I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas(or whatever flavor you celebrate) and I hope you will have a happy new year. Hopefully, once all the madness of the holidays dies down I will be back on here more and can continue our wonderful conversations.

Happy Holidays,
Tony

What is the purpose of living? How about, 'to reduce needless suffering. It seems to me to be a worthy purpose.

Happy Holidays everyone, which ever holiday it is that you choose to celebrate. Things have been kind of crazy here. I will try to get on when I can, I do miss the wonderful conversations and downright debates. Take care everyone!

I’m quite relieved to hear that it’s only the holidays which are keeping you so busy! As for the conversations, they always depend on the calibre of the people talking, and I count it a privilege to be able to discuss all these subjects with folk who are so well informed, ready to pose difficult questions, and open-minded enough to consider different answers. Of course none of us know the absolute truth – we couldn’t hold such discussions if we did – but I for one am constantly learning new things from this forum, and am grateful to all those who are contributing so much to my education!

Thank you, folks, and all good wishes for 2012.
