I think this forum could be so much better if it changed its format to a more friendly normal forum..it looks unfriendly alien...sorry but it could be so much better.

it looks unfriendly alien...sorry but it could be so much better. - How would you change it? I'd like a spell check on it, and perhaps a 'help' section, because I kind of stumbled my way thru at first, and I still don't know how to use all the buttons on the right of the message box.

The point was the forum could be laid out to give a better impression on first visit..i find it confusing ..when or who last visited or posted...I really would like an agnostic forum like this to better populated..

You can change the way the posts are listed by either toggling 'table view' or thread view... in table view you can see exactly 'when or who last visited or posted'

I AGREE!! Switch this forum over to BBpress or MyBB forum software! Will look like a REAL forum then....professional too. Those forums have alot more options for your posters and readers.

I've been looking at other groups that cover agnosticism. Maybe if DHW posted something on one of these he would get more people to come here. On Yahoo there are several large groups, but you have to be a member to read the messages, so I don't know how they compare with this forum: - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AgnosticsRefuge/?v=1&t=search&ch=web&pub=grou... - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SpiritualAgnostics/?v=1&t=search&ch=web&pub=g... - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Agnostic/?v=1&t=search&ch=web&pub=groups&... - There is a open forum on google: - http://groups.google.co.uk/group/alt.agnosticism/topics?hl=en - Does anyone know other forums of different types?

When my book was published I contacted google to be sure they knew about me. It works. If you ask for 'science vs. religion' now, four years later, my book still comes up first! dhw should contact google so agnostics know about us.

My thanks to George and David for these suggestions. I immediately googled "agnostic forums", and found this site on the first page in 7th place, just below Dawkins. Under "agnostic websites" it's on the third page. Maybe we need to change the wording and advertise the forum a bit more. I'll liaise with Neil on this. - The first three sites on George's post were actually one, with mainly brief comments and not much scope for in-depth discussion. Perhaps that's what most people prefer, but I'd rather not go down that road. In any case, there's no point in duplication of formats. It would certainly be helpful to have a wider variety of viewpoints, but it would seem odd if I posted a response on the yahoo site asking people to send their posts to AgnosticWeb.com! Any other suggestions?

Your Google is not like our Google. After 110 listng I have still not found this website on "American" Google. With our population you need an American listing. Ask Neil how to do that.

That is quite interesting..... You would have thought that a search phrase like 'agnostic forum' would bring up similiar results in the US as the UK considering it's not a geographically specific topic. I have tried searches in google uses my browser and get redirected to the .co.uk google using .com. The site appears high in the UK lisings. I then used other google extensions and yes the results differ.....based on that I think we could modify the way we promote the site and target more people state-side....if that is what is required.... thoughts....

Neil: I have no idea how you can do it, but it will be very worthwhile to get a high Google listing here.
