Waiting time

DAVID: So, cells make the proper mutations in your super intelligent cell committees?

dhw: You’ve got it. Are you denying that cell communities must cooperate if changes are to function?

DAVID: Of course, they cooperate, but at the mental design level you take it to is highly unreasonable.

dhw: That is the all-important question. But I’d have thought that someone who believes in God the designer would not regard it as impossible for him to design such a high level of intelligence, bearing in mind that even you acknowledge that the actions of cells have all the appearance of intelligence.

Cell intelligence is from God's implanted information.

DAVID: I have firsthand knowledge of designing. You ignore it by comparing me to God! Design is design at any level of mentality. You ignore my logic!

dhw: It was you who compared yourself to God, when you insisted that in your experience it is easier and more efficient to do your own designing than to pass it on to someone else (= secondhand). I pointed out that you would pursue your goal directly, but if God’s goal was humans plus food, he pursued his goal very differently from you, since he started out by designing countless life forms and foods, most of which had no connection with his goal. My suggestion, then, is that his goal may not have been what you believe. One possibility is a free-for-all (allowing for dabbles). Have you ever designed such a thing? Your firsthand knowledge of design is irrelevant.

God designed all that exists. Everything you complain about is God's doings. God arrived at His goal, we are here. And you don't like His method.

dhw: Did your God plan/design every single environmental change, local as well as global? Even you hum and haw over that one.

DAVID: […] I quote Gerald Schroeder who suggested God might have thrown the Chixculub rock.

dhw: “Might have” is hardly a solution to the problem, and a single incident does not cover every environmental change in life’s history, both local and global. So tell us. Do you believe your God engineered every environmental change, local and global, in history?

DAVID: All of creation comes from God.

dhw: Please can we have a yes or a no.

The answer is still everything that has happened is God's creation. He doesn't create each hurricane, but they come from underlying weather systems as God guided Earth's evolution.

No temporal lobe

QUOTE: “Scientists estimate that thousands of people are, like me, living normal lives despite missing large chunks of our brains. Our myriad networks of neurons have managed to rewire themselves over time. But how?

DAVID: she was luckier than others who have defects in cognition. What is not explained are those cases we've seen with a shell of a brain and normal cognition.

dhw: Here is one possible explanation: the cell communities of which all organs and organisms are composed may – like every other kind of community - differ in degrees of intelligence. Some lucky people have been endowed with intelligent cells which are able to make all the adjustments necessary to perform the functions of those cells which are missing. They are able to “rewire themselves”. Other people are not so lucky. It is possible that cellular intelligence is the invention of the being we call God. [...]

DAVID: […] The person of the story thinks with discussions from the scientist following her, she luckily had some remnant of the missing lobe that then rewired. That fits your theory. And I agree.

dhw: Thank you. At last we have a tick for the possibility of cellular intelligence!

Neurons that were left had plasticity ability given by God.
