Can one do tree of life from fossils alone (Introduction)

Do birds come from dinosaurs, or could it be somewhat the other way around? the only way to completely and safely draw evolutionary trees is to recognize 'convergence' as Conway Morris does, to compare DNA, if possibly recoverable (recently happened in dinosaurs), and to follow biochemicals, again if recoverable. Morphology alone is a fooler:-http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/02/100209183335.htm

I don't know how many researchers actually rely on morphology by itself except in cases where no DNA is recoverable. -Regardless of the issue on climate change, I actually hope that it is happening so we can get at what's underneath all the ice in Antarctica.

Same here! I've often wondered what's under all that ice. Maybe nothing, but maybe something!-

It seems cells could have evolved much earlier than previously thought:-http://whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com/2010/02/20/new-science-ancient-eukaryotes-and-altruistic-ants/-This article is based on a paper in the journal Nature.
