Matt has referred us to an article describing how robots can be made to evolve, through processes that provide us with insights into what we might call natural evolution. This is fascinating stuff. However, a comment sent in by "geebob" just about sums up the garbled thinking of people determined to impose their own beliefs/disbeliefs on science:
>
> "let us not forget the most important thing about computers or robots that evolve. It just goes to show that when something is designed to evolve, it does. If this doesn't prove that life evolved without a designer, I don't know what will!"
>
> So if something is designed to evolve, that proves it wasn't designed.-I make no certification of merit for anyone who posts beyond the articles I submit! Most of them are goons wanting to score a quick 2-points with like-minded people.

\"It is, brahmin, because of attachment to views, adherence to views, fixation on views, addiction to views, obsession with views, holding firmly to views that ascetics fight with ascetics.\"
