David,
After reading that article and thinking about more of what you call your objections, my mind still comes back to the fact that it is a simpler explanation to say that the lack of fossils in those "gaps" is due to the fact that we simply haven't found them. There is obviously enough evidence for us to state that -1. Traits are only passed on through genetic transfer to a subsequent generation.-and-2. Fossil evidence overwhelmingly supports the knowledge from #1-From here we can infer without need to see those "intermediate fossils" that such creatures existed, because there is no way they couldn't have.-Additionally, I don't see why it isn't acceptable to simply state "sometimes evolution happens quickly," and "sometimes it doesn't." That explanation, though lacking mechanism--still is supported by the evidence, and we have to make no other assumption.-In short, why do we still need to appeal to a designer here? We all agree that to only makes assumptions when we need to. So why here? Where's the need?

\"It is, brahmin, because of attachment to views, adherence to views, fixation on views, addiction to views, obsession with views, holding firmly to views that ascetics fight with ascetics.\"
