And the bible certainly doesn't claim that it was only rain. How they knew about the "springs/waters of the deep" is a mystery. The only two explanations are either the chronicle is divinely inspired, or they were more scientifically and technologically advanced than we give them credit for.

What is the purpose of living? How about, 'to reduce needless suffering. It seems to me to be a worthy purpose.
