Libellous Comments (General)
Just a quick note to say although we welcome constructive comments, the posting of potentially libellous comments on this website is not permitted. - Internet sites are not exempt from libel laws, so anyone posting such comments as an individual, or someone publishing them on the internet, is also bound by the law. Aggrieved individuals have, in the past, sued online publishers for libel over someone's comments published on their site, so not only must we - as publishers - be aware of our responsibilities in this area, we appreciate a certain amount of thought by persons making a posting before a posting is made. - Libel law protects individuals or organisations from unwarranted, mistaken or untruthful attacks on their reputation. Basically, libel is published material that damages the reputation of someone. A person is libelled if a publication: - • Exposes them to hatred, ridicule or contempt • Causes them to be shunned or avoided • Discredits them in their trade, business or profession • Generally lowers them in the eyes of right thinking members of society. - We appreciate your understanding in this matter... - Neil White Web Co-Ordination Team
