My new book (Introduction)
dhw: Although of course I dispute the conclusions David draws from his observations, I regard his book as a powerful and necessary scientific response to Dawkins, whose blinkered approach resulted in my writing the "brief guide" and starting up this website. Nearly all the opposition to Dawkins at the time came from religious people whose approach I found equally blinkered. Alleged scientific arguments must be countered with science, and that is where David excels. I see his book as essential in re-establishing the balance between theism and atheism in the context of modern scientific discoveries. I should add that it was both a privilege and a pleasure to work so closely with David (we had never even met at the time), and I'm honoured to be the dedicatee. This may be the first time in history that a theist has enlisted the help of an agnostic to edit his arguments!-He may have edited how I stated my arguments, but he did not change the substance or his mind. When dhw broached the idea of my writing the book, it was something I had not contemplated, but I had been building up a huge 'documents' library of the most recent findings and discussions since the last book was written over 10 years ago. I only accepted the challenge when he said he would help me with the style. As I have said, he is one tough but logical editor. The whole book, I view, as his fault. The dedication is the result. :>))
