I think the researches stopped to early in their traceback. For example, what causes the decline in GnRH production. What are the triggers for that production? Is there another chemical or process that affects that production? Etc, etc.. -Would be interesting to drill down to the root cause instead of looking at the end effects.

What is the purpose of living? How about, 'to reduce needless suffering. It seems to me to be a worthy purpose.

I'll bet they do just that. A finding like this will justify new grants.
