These are gene-like areas in the DNA, copies and retro-transpositions. the Darwin folks say these are old mistakes and therefore proof of evolution over the years. But functions are being found, and they may not be junk DNA.-http://www.landesbioscience.com/journals/rnabiology/article/18277/
