Extended carbon dating (Introduction)

Carbon 14 is an isotope used for dating, but it could only go back as far as tree-ring dating went, 10-14,000 years with about 90% accuracy. Now using a Japanese Lake sediments it can go back 50,000 years.-http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=carbon-dating-gets-reset
