My wife and I are now off to North Wales, where we shall be joined by our just-married elder son and wife, our daughter, and our younger son and his family. Such reunions are among life's greatest pleasures, and they are an end in themselves. Carpe diem! I shall therefore be incommunicado for about ten days.
