As I understand it the organisers of the Altenberg conference, Pigliucci and Muller are evolutionary biologists (Pigliucci is known for his public defence of evolution against creationists in debates). The purpose of the conference is simply to update the "neo-darwinian synthesis" of the 1930s to take into account the latest findings of molecular biology. But apparently the full papers aren't being published until 2009. However the summaries given here by Pigliucci don't support DT's contentious statements.
