What Exactly IS Intelligence? (The nature of a \'Creator\')

I'm prepared to go along with the definition that "intelligence is problem solving ability". But why "goal-oriented"? The aim is to find a solution, which is a sufficient goal. No other goal need be specified.-However I object to the misuse of the word "energy". For me energy is a physical quantity having the dimensions of mass times velocity squared. It is something measurable. BBella seems to be using it in the sense of "entity". The rest of her first paragraph is just mystical poetry that makes little sense to me. Her second paragraph makes more sense.-A higher intelligence would clearly be able to understand more difficult problems and to solve them more quickly. A lot of that depends on knowledge. I'm sure modern people can solve many questions a lot more quickly that ancient peoples. You only have to think of multiplying numbers in roman numerals! -I certainly don't think disembodied intelligence is possible. An unstructured bundle of energy cannot exhibit intelligence any more than a bucket of mud can!
It requires a complexly structured brain.
