Does evolution have a purpose? (Evolution)

Now, as a challenge for you, if God created things in stages, as the Bible says he did, wouldn't that actually give the 'illusion' of evolution while simultaneously explaining the gaps in the fossil record AND the fact that we do not see any further crossing of species boundaries continuing today?

What is the purpose of living? How about, 'to reduce needless suffering. It seems to me to be a worthy purpose.
