There is a complicated article on Wikipedia which explains the variations in different populations and the possible relationship to toxoplasma parasites which are found in our cats in this country. It is compared to sickle cell mutation in Africa as related to malaria. In both cases the variation protects against the parasite. It is simply a mutation which persists because of the parasite. As you know I don't buy "aliens". :>))-All we were taught in med school was to flush the blood of the Rh neg newborn.
