> b bella: I really appreciate this article, David. Some of the very things I've been thinking about for a while now, but especially since my 17 year old daughter recently brought up questions while writing her thesis on America's Stagnation and the Political Extremes of Left and Right. It's good to know the media eye is on the extremes of both parties.-My first book, Government by Political Spin, 2000, predicts the use of computers to gerrymand the country. It's happened. In the past 6-8 years we have gone from 120 contested house seats to 35 in the past election. MLK's admonition to forget about race, color, minor groups and all become equal citizens is lost. We must have districts to protect the Blacks, the Latinos, and the everythings else. We are no longer free and equal folks. Some are lesser and must be protected. This is the liberalisms' evil of what has happened. That protection means we are all less free and stagnating. My grandparents alll came from Eastern Europe, learned English and learned how to survive without any safty nets. That takes courage and guts. They all made it and how! We are now allowing a country of weaklings. And so we decline.-Civil rights is a past problem. We have a black president. We may have a Latino next in Rubio. we need to apportion the states' districts like you slice a pie. Make everyone's vote really equal to begin with. They are not equal now. Tell your daughter.
